Silver Flame Steakhouse & Seafood, located at the corner of 61st & Sheridan, is luckily where we ended up one night while we were hungrily driving around. We were looking for a restaurant that would seat us after 9pm (it’s harder than you think!) and Silver Flame kindly obliged. To our surprise we were not only served straight forward American steakhouse fare but also Lebanese cuisine that we thoroughly enjoyed! All entrees are served with a Hummus, Tabouli, Cabbage Roll, BBQ Ribs, BBQ Bologna, Dinner Salad, and a traditional side. We had our work cut out for us with a plethora of sides meats, veggies, and condiments but luckily we brought our appetites!
The Dinner Salad was a nice little start to our meal. Nothing complicated or fancy – just some crisp lettuce and a creamy ranch dressing.
The Cabbage Roll arrived as a tasty surprise. Neither of us could remember the last time we had a cabbage roll and this one was a flavorful delight. Nothing worse than a bland cabbage roll…
The Hummus and Tabouli were a wonderful starter as well. Both were seasoned well and tasted great dipped by fresh baby carrots, celery and on top of crackers.
The BBQ Ribs & Bologna were a huge hit with me as I am fond of my carnivorous side. The ribs and bologna had a deep smokey taste and relied more on the smoke than dripping with barbeque sauce which I really appreciate.
The Prime Rib of Beef was a bargain at the price of $21.95. This huge hunk of grilled tender beef was delicately seasoned and perfectly medium rare. It was served au jus and I dipped every bite as I indulged in the prime seasoning.
Christine ordered the special which we were told is very popular, and at the price of $24.95 who wouldn’t order the Surf & Turf. The 5 oz. Filet Mignon was the perfect size to compliment the 5 oz. lobster tail. It still blows my mind how they manage to dish out a quality Surf & Turf at such a reasonable price. We will definitely be coming back for this alone!
Our waitress was the proud daughter of the owner of the Silver Flame and did a great job serving us. She spoke of her Lebanese heritage and presented her father’s restaurant with class. Silver Flame reminded my wife of Jamil’s Steakhouse which is a landmark for quality Lebanese Steakhouse food. They also have some fabulous sounding lunch specials under $10.
